This necklace dates from the late nineteenth century,  period that already anticipates the elegance of the Art Nouveau style. It is made of gold and silver, set with old-cut diamonds, and is characterized by an extraordinary delicacy of form and craftsmanship.

The design is strongly inspired by nature: the necklace appears as a graceful cascade of ginkgo biloba leaves and fruits, rendered with great softness and refinement. This naturalistic approach was very typical of the jewelry of the period, when artists and goldsmiths sought to reproduce the beauty and fluidity of the natural world with increasing realism and sensitivity.

The piece perfectly reflects the transition from the more rigid historicist taste of the nineteenth century toward the lighter, organic lines that would soon define Art Nouveau.1890 - 1900 c.a.
